Alaska’s largᴇst-ᴇvᴇr gold nuggᴇt up for salᴇ

Image
A rare and massive gold nugget, weighing around 20lbs (9kg), has been put up for sale 23 years after it was discovered and it’s expected to reach at least $1 million at an auction that takes place on Dec. 8. The Alaska Centennial Nugget, estimated at the size of a baby’s head, was discovered by gold miner Barry Clay near the town of Ruby, Alaska, in 1998, 100 years after the 1896 Klondike Gold Rush. He found the valuable remnant while pushing dirt with his bulldozer along the shores of the Swift Creek Mine. The nugget is the largest ever found in Alaska, and only smaller than the “Boot of Cortez” nugget found in Mexico, which weighs 24lbs (11kg). Clay is said to have buried the nugget near a tree, buying time until he decided what to do with his remarkable find. The current owner bought the rock directly from Clay, and it has been in the same family for more than two decades. The upcoming auction will be the first public offering of the museum-quality piece.

Montana Treasure! A 27-ounce Gold Nugget is found near Butte

Image
Montana may not get as much attention as some other states when it comes to gold mining, but that does not mean there isn’t gold here. In fact there has been millions of dollars in gold found here. One of the biggest gold nuggets ever found in Montana was found just south of Butte, and is on display to the public so anyone can go see it. Most folks know Butte is a copper town, but there is also some good gold to be found in this area too. This spectacular discovery was pulled from a creek in the Highland Mountains back in 1989. Quite a find, considering that miners have been searching in this area since the 1800s! Over 100 years after the old-timers first started digging for gold in the area, one of Montana’s largest gold nuggets was found . Although there has been plenty of gold found in Montana, this state isn’t all that well-known for producing large gold nuggets. So it must have been a real surprise when this 27-ounce beauty was unearthed! This disco

Pokemon Fan Shows What A Cel-Shaded Game Would Look Like

Pokemon games have come a long way since Red and Blue launched more than 25 years ago. Jumping from Nintendo console to Nintendo console, knowing Game Freak, it won't be long until the next Pokemon games are revealed. As for what long-time fans want those games to look like, some appear keen to see a cel-shaded style applied to whatever's next. The want for cel-shaded Pokemon Game s has been started, or at least furthered, by TheYisusOne. Yisuno shared a comparison shot on Twitter including a regular screengrab and what that image would look like if it were cel-shaded. Needless to say, pretty much all of the replies agree the cel-shaded image is the better-looking one. Giant gold nugget found in California could sell for $350,000

A giant gold nugget weighing more than 6 pounds, the Butte Nugget is expected to carry a price tag of $350,000. One of the biggest gold nugget s found in modern times in Northern California’s historic Gold Country is going up for sale. Weighing in at 6.07 pounds, the Butte Nugget is expected to carry a price tag of $350,000. The San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday that the nugget ’s finder asked dealer Don Kagin to keep his name and the location of the discovery secret. What’s known is that a gold hunter found it in July on public land in the Butte County mountains. Prospecting for gold is legal on most public lands in the state. David McCarthy, a coin and rare-minerals expert, told the Chronicle that he took a blindfolded ride to the site of the discovery so he would be satisfied the nugget was genuine. The gold chunk will be unveiled Thursday at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show. Prospectors found many giant gold nugget s in California’s 19th c

The Beyers and Holtermann Nugget

Image
During Australia’s gold rush, finding a big gold nugget was easier than it is today (although it was still not an easy task.) Even in the famous goldfields of Australia, many prospectors had a hard time finding paying concentrations of gold. Thousands of men who intended to get rich returned home with very little to show for their efforts. Bernardt Otto Holtermann was not one of these men. He had mined for several years with good returns for his effort. Along with his friend and partner Louis Beyers, they operated the Star of Hope Gold Mine. Located in Tambaroora, near Hill End in New South Wales, this area experienced a gold rush during the 1850’s that attracted several thousand hopeful gold prospectors during its heyday. The Star of Hope Mine was one of the biggest producers in the area. Small-scale miners worked the surface diggings, but it was the large lode mining operations that really increased the gold production in this area. Rich gold deposits at the S

Elden Ring Players Want To Explore The Ocean And Pause The Game In DLC

FromSoftware remains radio silent on Elden Ring DLC, but we know something is coming as it said there's more it wants to do following the colosseum update. What that 'more' entails is unclear, but fans are already bursting at the seams with ideas for what Elden Ring could do in an expansion. One of the most common answers that cropped up when asked what fans wanted to see in the DLC was the ocean, complete with the sea monsters we've heard about, and all the abandoned ships on the map. Maybe FromSoftware could even return to the Lovecraftian horror of Bloodborne with a Cthulhu-styled beast lurking in the depths. Pakistan unsure flood aid conference to translate into funds

Pakistani officials are increasingly concerned whether next week’s U.N.-backed conference will succeed in raising the billions of dollars needed to help survivors and launch reconstruction efforts following last summer’s devastating floods ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani officials were increasingly concerned Thursday whether next week's U.N.-backed conference will succeed in raising the billions of dollars needed to help survivors and launch reconstruction efforts following last summer's devastating flood s. Authorities say they need $16.3 billion, half of which will be financed from the budget. The government seeks the other half — about $8 billion — in aid donations from the international community. The United Nations and Pakistan are jointly hosting the conference on Monday in Geneva, which had earlier been billed as a donors conference. However, as expectations of large influxes foundered, the government now says the day-long event will be used to raise the alarm about the situatio

The Last Of Us Part 1 Sales Skyrocket Following TV Show Premiere, Jumping 238 Percent

The latest UK Boxed Charts to be released contain a couple of substantial surprises, namely a massive spike in sales for The Last of Us Part 1. This of course can be attributed to the recent premiere of the eponymous television show, but the scale of this particular increase remains rather remarkable, coming to a total of 238 percent since last week. The news comes from the publication Game sIndustry.biz which noted several other meteoric rises in terms of sales. The biggest of the week was naturally The Last of Us Part 1, returning to the charts at position number 20, sales no doubt boosted by the popular series which premiered on January 15. The version of the Game for previous generation consoles, The Last of Us: Remastered, also managed to make an appearance on the charts, entering at position number 32. This represents a somewhat stunning 322 percent sales spike. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY RELATED: We Broke The Curse Of Bad Video Game Adaptations Years

NBA trade rumors: Rockets turned down Bucks' offer for Eric Gordon; Hornets will take calls on Gordon Hayward

We're now less than a month away from the 2023 NBA trade deadline on Feb. 9, and as expected, the rumor mill is starting to heat up. This is about the time when teams have to decide if they want to be buyers or sellers, and with Victor Wembanyama waiting in the 2023 NBA Draft, there may be more of the latter than usual.  Let's take a closer look at some of the latest bits of information: Rockets turned down Bucks' offer for Gordon  The Houston Rockets were not expected to be good this season, but things have gotten really rough over the last month or so. They've lost 12 games in a row, and 17 of their last 18 to fall into last place at 10-35. At this point, they may as well stay down there, which is why Eric Gordon is a prime candidate to be moved soon.  Gordon is the lone remaining member of the Rockets' 2018 Western Conference finals team still on the roster, and clearly isn't having

If Trae Young and Dejounte Murray are going to flourish long-term, this number is a big key

The Atlanta Hawks have a little something going with four straight wins, and the common denominator is the high-level shooting from Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. Both are making 42 percent of their 3-pointers in January. Murray, who was spectacular against the Mavericks on Wednesday with 30 points, is 13 for his last 23 from deep.  That Dallas Game was a real blueprint performance from Young and Murray. Young is the guy, but Murray was in control all Game and Young let it stay that way down the stretch. As long as Atlanta is going to play my-turn/your-turn offense with Murray and Young, the key is knowing whose turn it should be, and when.  It can be matchup dependent. It can be who has the hot hand. Young, who played a terrifically patient and effective Game against Dallas with 18 points and 12 assists on just one 3-point attempt, understanding that Murray was in rhythm and being willing to go wide to space

Riot Games Is Reportedly Laying Off Staff

Companies around the world believe that we’re heading into troubled economic waters, and that means it's a bad time to be an employee at some of the larger studios. Case in point, League of Legends developer Riot is laying off staff. According to "multiple people" speaking to esteemed e Sports journalist Jacob Wolf (via VGC), "Riot Game s is making layoffs." So far, the "size and scope" of the layoffs aren’t entirely clear, but Wolf’s sources note they’ll have adverse effects on "recruiting & human resources, support, and e Sports ." You’ll Need A Longer Rod! Angler Reels In A 300lb ‘Angry’ Shark Off The Isle Of Wight After The 7ft-long Monster Caught Went For His Mackerel Bait

Image
An angler saw his fishing rod snap in two in an hour-long gruelling tussle as he reeled in a monster shark off the southern British coast. Ray Breton, 53, was fishing alone on his 16ft long boat off the Isle of Wight when the huge Porbeagle Shark – which is related to the Great White – went for his mackerel bait. The lorry driver by day, started to reel in the 7ft long ‘angry’ shark, but the catch was so big that it took him an hour to get it alongside his boat. Great White Sharks are often reported seen in the waters off the UK coast but it is believed most of these sightings are Porbeagle Sharks – which are related the species but around half the size. However Porbeagles are still enormous beasts, reaching over 10ft long and weighing up to 600lbs. The breed of shark is not normally harmful to humans, although they can cause serious injury – but no deaths have ever been recorded. The hobbyist fisherman reeled in a monster shark by himself on his 16ft long boat off the

Disturbing Moment A Shark Is Pulled Out Of The Ocean By A Fisherman With Half Its Body Missing After Being Eaten Alive

Image
A pair of fishermen have pulled a shark missing most of its body from the depths of the ocean. Sammy Hitzke and Shaun Whale shared footage of their extraordinary find during a fishing trip off the coast of Queensland, about 250km from the Gold Coast. The two men managed to hook what they initially believe is a big fish on the other end and spend the next several hours trying to reel it in. A pair of Queensland fishermen have pulled a giant shark missing most of its body from the depths of the ocean As Shaun reels in the catch closer to the pair’s boat, the two men discover they have actually hooked a big shark. ‘It could be a shark,’ Sammy tells Shaun as their catch heads towards the surface and becomes more visible. The pair notice a chunk of the shark’s torso missing, with Sammy adding: ‘It looks like it’s been sharked. Shark’s been sharked.’ They manage to pull the dead shark, which they identify as a thresher shark, to the surface of the water as they b
